where ever you turn there is something which might catch your eye, and stay with you.
the last couple of days have been full of those moments.
do you have a place or a time like that?
for me it is new york.
we’ve all seen iconic new york city imagery.
and here in the city, you are bombarded by it each and every moment.
it is hard not to grow tired and weary of it all.
but sometimes you just have to pinch yourself, because the moment will grab you no matter how hard you may resist it.
on your way to what you think is a regular photography store ends up being an adventure of all sorts. characters, complex purchasing systems involving ceiling conveyor belts(!) and brazillian candies all in a 15 minute visit.
and then the sun dips a certain way, waiting for you to pause just a while.
on more that one street. no wonder, there are t-shirts with the words printed: turistas: go home. it must be hard for new yorkers, with the stopping and looking up all the time.
with all the stopping and looking up, the moment inside are pretty good themselves.
especially when pickles and old school deli food is involved. ala second ave deli.
and like new, you feel fortified to step out again to take it all in.
perhaps this time, rather than looking up, you might want to look down and out.
that moment, once again.
